The Power of the Dollar: A Journey Through Bali

Travel | Conscious Living | Artisanal Goods

We are often called by distant lands—not just by their landscapes, but by their soul. We travel to witness beauty, to savor unfamiliar flavors, and to immerse ourselves in cultures vastly different from our own. In doing so, we hope to expand both our minds and our hearts.

Our recent journey to Bali has been nothing short of transformative. Though we’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world, this island has etched itself deep into our spirits. There’s something about the way Bali lives—rooted in pride, humility, and devotion—that moves us profoundly.

Behind Every Craft, a Life

As we explored Bali’s hidden alleyways and quiet villages, we were welcomed into spaces where craft and life are inseparable. Every shop seems to breathe. Behind each storefront is a home brimming with children’s laughter, the aroma of simmering curries, and the beautiful rhythm of family life.

In these homes, we saw true craftsmanship—passed down through generations, made with care and love. And we were reminded that every dollar we spend has power. It can support a child’s education, uplift a family, and sustain a village.

When we choose to exchange money for handmade goods, we’re not just buying objects—we’re investing in people and stories. We’re casting a vote for a world where quality, intention, and sustainability matter.

What Energy Are We Welcoming In?

Mass-produced items are accessible and often cheaper—but they come at a different cost. The energy behind something created in a factory, without thought for the Earth or the workers, is very different from something made by hand with care and consciousness.

Before making a purchase, we ask ourselves:

  • How long has this person been crafting?

  • Is it made with sustainable materials?

  • Are the working conditions fair?

  • Is this piece made with intention?

Just like the food we choose to nourish our bodies, the items we bring into our lives carry an energy. The question is: What kind of energy do we want to live with?

Every Dollar Is a Decision

We believe that conscious consumerism is a powerful form of activism. When we choose to support artisans who care for the planet and their communities, we help shape a more just, beautiful world.

These makers go beyond profit. They walk those extra 15 steps to ensure that their creations don’t come at the Earth’s expense. And for that, we honor them. We celebrate them. We choose them.

A Gratitude-Filled Goodbye… and a New Adventure

Our time in Bali has been filled with connection, inspiration, and the kind of stillness that stays with you long after you leave. We’ve built meaningful relationships with people whose artistry and values we deeply admire.

As this chapter closes, a new one begins. Morocco, here we come.

With open hearts and curious minds, we’re off to discover what beauty, culture, and creativity await next.
